Stewed Hearts of Palm [Recipe + Video] Palmito Guisado
Enjoy hearts of palm in a new and very flavorful way with this traditional Dominican palmito guisado dish. Quick and easy to make and a guaranteed success at the table.

Heat a tablespoon of oil over medium heat in a large skillet.Cook and stir the onions until they turn translucent. Add the bell pepper, tomatoes, hearts of palm, garlic, oregano, black pepper, olives, and tomato sauce. Cook stirring until everything is heated through (about 2 minutes).
2. Cook palmito
Add 2 cups [0.5 liters] of water. Cover and simmer until the vegetables are cooked through.Season with salt to taste.
3. Serving
Remove from the stove, garnish with parsley, and serve.

Notes
You can add some crushed Scotch bonnet pepper when you are sauteing the seasonings, or some hot sauce at the end. It's not a traditional touch, but it's my preference.
