Batida de lechosa (papaya milkshake) is one of the most popular recipes on our blog, and one of the most popular drinks in the Dominican Republic. If you've tried it before, I am sure you need no convincing. Hurry up, serve yourself this icy-cold, creamy, dessert-like marvel.

– 3 cup papaya (ripe, fresh), and peeled, and cut into cubes – 1 teaspoon vanilla extract – 3 cup ice cubes – 1 quart evaporated milk, [1 liter] – ½ cup sugar (white, granulated), (might not use it all) or brown sugar, as I prefer

Step 1:

Put the papaya cubes, vanilla, ice, evaporated milk, and half of the sugar in the blender and keep on at high speed until the ice is blended. Try and add more sugar if needed, blend for a few more seconds until it has a silky consistency.

Serve immediately, once blended it will become bitter once it starts warming up.
