We had a grand time making our own Handmade Felt Christmas Ornaments. This is how you can make some too.
Ever since I left my parents’ home I don’t remember ever owning a Christmas tree. At most I would scatter a few ornaments here and there; most years I couldn’t even bother to do that. Amazing how having kids changes everything.
Nadia wants a tree, so I told her we would have some sort of tree. What is certain is that it will not be a regular tree, I still can’t be bothered; we’ll see what I come up with.
In the meantime we had a grand time making our own, very simple ornaments.
We used things I already had. I raided my felt stash and found some notions I never use and that I got in one of those “granny boxes” I have bought on eBay (I’ve got some really cool stuff in those, like darning eggs and antique scissors).
I used embroidery stabilizer to back the felt ornaments, and hand-sewed them to it. It makes them more stiff and durable. I pulled the thread tight this makes the baubles bend in the center, giving them a bit of volume.
Now I just have to come up with a DIY tree. I am thinking of going into the jungle in front of here and find some twigs or something like that.
Do you have any ideas you could share?
