Of all the things I could have inherited from my parents - like their work ethics, uncompromising honesty and talent for money-management - I went ahead and got my dad's family stature (I am 5' 2" on a good day), and both my parent's lousy memory.
Thank you mom and dad!
My spotty memory is something I have mentioned before, it is why I take pictures of everything, and write everything down, even if I later don't remember where I wrote it down. The good news is that I don't seem to be getting worse with age, there isn't that much wriggle room where I already am.
Anyway, where was I? Ah, yeah, something about writing things down.
This is my little kitchen assistant. I have it stuck to the side of the fridge (the front is stainless steel, thus non-magnetic). I write down what we need to buy as soon as I notice we are running short or don't have any left of something.
I am sure this is something you can buy somewhere. But you know how tight I am with my non-existent money.
It ain't rocket science. I glued magnetic strips to the pen cap (a little pen I found at the shop), and a fabric-covered button. I then folded the front of the notepad covered it on the right side with some pretty paper on which I printed the words "shopping list" and glued a large magnetic strip on the back.
I used a small stamp I had to stamp some insect which name I don't remember (I am serious) on the pages.
Some of you crafty people can probably think of many ways to beautify your notepad, like these. I personally prefer it simple.
If you worry about keeping the top part clean, a little Mod Podge can solve that. Which is what I did.
This is what the button is for. It holds the page up if you want to write on the reverse of the page, or see the next page.
This would make a quick, inexpensive gift that everybody has a use for.
I was going to write something incredibly witty and profound here, but I forgot what. What's your name again?
Aunt Clara
@ Sunny,I always end my shopping lists with the line "3 Kg. of saffron". It's a joke from an old Danish movie. 🙂
Shopping lists are absolutely essential for me these days - and I still end up needing a second trip to pick up the things I forgot. 😛
Cute idea! I'm the same way! Everything needs to be written down or I forget!!!
