Keep your little ones safe with this cute tackless bulleting board.
Rule no. 1 of raising small kids: Keep sharp and pointy objects away from them.
You would think this is a no-brainer, after all my daughter has been reciting the rules for cutting since she could barely pronounce the words: "'sefty' scissors and a grownup". You would think I'd be smarter than a 4 year old, and keep said pointy objects away from the aforementioned kid. Well, I am only human (and probably a lousy mom too).
I have to confess that I've given my child tacks for her desk bulletin board, and later almost stepped on them. Which was a signal that perhaps the people that write such pearls of wisdom as "keep out of reach of children" for a living are not just full of it. So I took away the tacks.
And then there was this. Somebody-who-shall-remain-nameless scribbled on the corkboard, which of course absorbed the ink like rain falling on the Atacama Desert.
Which brings us to rule no. 2: Wait till your kids (and kid's friends) are gone for college to buy them markers, coloring pencils and such. You'll live longer.
Time to tackle these problems.
With paint. Many, many coats of paint. I then glued these cute pins on the board, she can now hang things without having to use pointy bits of metal.
Of course, after I finished sticking the pins on the board, Little Miss Nadia complained that the ship and the sun should go on top and the sea life at the bottom. The way I did it "doesn't make sense".
Everybody is a critic!
And that's rule no. 3: Impart these ancient words of wisdom whenever necessary: "Who asked you?"
Ariana, that's the most clever idea I've heard all day. Unfortunately I do live in an outpost, no chance of getting that at any of the local hardware store.I wonder if that can be shipped air...
Another idea is magnetic paint. It goes on black, but can be covered pretty easily with white. You could glue little magnets to the clothespins. I also found your blog through YHL. I love it! Very inspiring, and I'm getting a lot of ideas for my daughter's room.
I just found your blog today through YHL and I am in love already! Your house is so beautiful and bright and your decor is so simple and fresh.Just a little idea: if you swapped the double sided tape for velcro she could put the clips wherever she wants and… Read more »
