I agree with the other comments– Julia Alvarez's books are great, both her children's books as well as those for adults.
Another day, another entry- and I still think they should offer more children's books – I'm sure there must be some dominican authors that write for children.
I'm a Bilingual teacher and would love to share some stories/books from my culture. I would love to see more picture books by Dominican authors.
IN THE NAME OF SALOME by Julia Alvarez or THE FARMING OF BONES by Edwidge Danticat…..both are great!!
Just re-read 'In the time of Butterflies' (Las hermanas Mirabal) by Julia Alvarez while in the DR which was perfect as, although it's a novel, it gives you an insight in Dominican history. Am planning to read her other books too!
