Suffering the loss of my Dominican touch

Hi, all. I'm so glad I found this site. My husband is Italian-American and only wanted to eat "pasta" or "steak and potatoes" and have forgotten so much of what was taught to me by my grandmother. Coming from a traditional Dominican home (my mom is Cuban but she grew up in DR), I loved, loved, loved a traditional Dominican cuisine. Finally, my husband in recent years (after visiting DR) has started eating Dominican foods but I have forgotten so much and it's frustrating because my menu is so limited at this time and I feel I've lost that "Dominican" touch. I hope I gain it back with the recipes on this site. I love my Dominican culture and sadden that I had let it escape me. Thanks so much for this site, Tia Clara.

Welcome to the site. It's THE BEST EVER!!!!!!! When I first found this site I felt like the gates of heaven opened up right before my eyes. I even heard the angelic music. I know how to cook dominican food, but I like getting other people's randitions of my favorite dishes. I also like getting recipes of things my mom rarely made so I would have vague memories of how they're made. Like most dominicans I learned how to cook from memories of watching my mother. Enjoy the site!!!!!!
