| Hello everyone...I'm a new member but I have come across this site before. I am dominican. I was born in the DR and came to the States at age 8,but I never learned to cook dominican food! My mom tells me she always told me "Ven,pa' que aprendas...!" and I would just shrug it off or walk away. I did not have the slightest interest in learning to cook dominican food. Now that I'm 24, I have developed an interest and have enlisted the help of my mother and grandmother so that I can learn to cook the food of my country. I'm not an expert yet,but I intend to get there someday. Just like I can cook basically anything American or Italian,I hope to be able to do the same with Dominican cuisine. I hope this site will serve me as a tool for any doubts or questions I may have, and the people here will lend their helping hands. I look forward to sharing experiences and anecdotes,too...thanks for this site,Aunt Clara! |

| Thanks! Looking back I wish I had stood by my mom and watched her cook so that I could learn, but I was young and dumb and thought I had better things to do,lol! I announced to my mom when I came home for Christmas that I wanted to learn how to cook and she has been helping me. Slowly, but surely,I hope to become as good a cook as her! Better late than never is what I say. |
