I have been looking for a site like this for years! My Husband is Dominican, and his mother has tried to teach me to cook over the years. The language barrier has made it very difficult to understand her recipes. (She doesn't speak much english, I don't speak much spanish) The few recipes I have learned, She SHOWED me how to make them. Now she is back in the "D.R." and my Dominican cooking days were over. <sniff>. TIll now!! THank you for doing this!! My husband and children (They love gualita's cooking) are going to be so happy! Gracia! Betty |

| I'm soooo glaaaad I found this site - I'm getting ready to cook my first Christmas dinner since my mom threw down her apron & it's tired of cooking (lol). Even though I know how to make some dishes it never taste like hers & never will but since she is giving up I have to take charge - wish me luck. I plan to make most of the dishes known to be traditionally made for Christmas in DR except I will not be making 'lechon asado' (not a big fan of pork) so I'll be using chicken instead. Feliz Navidad for all. Have a nice day! |
