Salads are an important part of the Dominican meal. Sometimes instead of (or in addition to) salad Dominicans serve side dishes with their meals . Casseroles (pastelones) are also very popular in Dominican cuisine.

Recipe Ensalada de aguacate (Avocado salad)


This is a very delicious option for a side dish, and although not the most appropriate salad if you are watching your weight the fat in it comes from the healthiest sources.

Time: 10 Mins
Difficulty: Easy
Serve:
4 people

Before starting to cook:
No prior preparation is necessary.

Ingredients:
  • 2 avocados
  • 2 teaspoons of fruit vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons of olive oil
  • 1 small red pepper cut into small cubes (optional)
  • 1/2 small red onions cut into strips (optional)
  • Salt and pepper

Preparation:
  1. Mix the vinegar and oil. Marinate the onion and pepper in this mix for about an hour.
  2. Peel and cut the avocados into slices and mix with the onions and pepper. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Ensalada de aguacate

My mom slices the avocado in cubes, and she adds salt, lemon juice and olive oil, nothing else. That makes it soooo great!!!

Tias! How appropiate is this recipe for me! I have the tastiest aguacates from down south Florida (Homestead) and i must say i have a lot of them! I love this salad recipe, but what fruit vinegar is useable? Apple cider vinegar?

I use red wine vinegar it comes out great or just lime juice and oil
