Christmas is approaching and one tradition in Dominican offices is to organise a “Secret Santa”, or as it’s known in the DR, an “angelito”. This year we’re going to combine our competition with an “angelito”, with some modifications, so you can share, and maybe give or receive a gift from another friend from our community. You don’t need to buy any gift or send anything to anyone.






How it works:
Each “angel” chooses its protégé at random. In traditional “angelitos” the angel sends its protégé a gift in secret and the participants are revealed on the last day. In our version all the “angelitos” will take part in the competition. The six winners win a gift that is sent to their respective protégé.

Participants who don’t receive a gift will be sent a small token from us, like a postcard or Christmas card with a message from their angel.

How to take part:

You need to be an active member of our community, i.e. you should have made at least five posts on the forum at the point of joining the contest.

If you meet this requisite, let us know you are taking part by posting on this thread. We will be accepting participants until 30th November.

Only participants in the Dominican Republic, United States, European Union, Mexico, Canada and Puerto Rico can join. We’re sorry, but we can’t send items to any other countries. You may still take part, but if your angel wins a gift for you we will have to pass it on to the person who came after your angel in the competition.

We will ask 10 questions about Dominican Christmas. As in previous competitions the winners are those with the most correct answers by order of arrival. You must send me the answers by Private Message.

The top six entries will win a copy of our book Traditional Dominican Cookery for their protégé, or if they are in the Dominican Republic they will win a copy of Cocina Criolla Dominicana, courtesy of our sponsor Dominican Bookshop -The Dominican Republic in Print.

The questions will be published on December 1st and we will accept answers until December 3rd so that the gifts can be sent in time for Christmas.
