Aunt Clara's Dominican Cookbook: Get yours while they are still hot!

If you have any questions, I hope the information below answers them. If you still have any doubts, please ask us.

What are these books about?
For over three years now we have been receiving inquiries from our visitors about purchasing Dominican cookbooks in English. Unfortunately there were no such books in print, and after some of our readers suggested it we decided to put one together ourselves.

Are the recipes and photos the same as the ones in the site?
Yes and no. Some of the recipes are similar to the ones in our site.
Needless to say we put a great deal of effort into our books to make sure that everything is correct. We tested our recipes, in some cases starting from scratch. The photos are brand new, professionally done, and dare I say it, fantastic. As in the site, every recipe comes with a photo (in the color version).

Why pay for what I get free on this site?
Our site is kept accurate to the best of our ability, but since we have been working so hard on these books we have to confess that we have neglected our site a little bit (we'll make up for that soon). Our books took over two years to complete, and once you see them you'll agree that it’s been worth it. And there is the fact that you can't take the computer to the kitchen (or the bathroom)... or give a link to someone as a gift. The proceeds of these books will help support our site and a portion is donated to Plan, an international development agency working to improve nutrition and education in the poorest areas of the Dominican Republic.

What’s the difference between the two books?
One is printed in full color, the other in black and white. By removing the photos in the B&W version we’ve reduced the size to more than half - this way we can offer a much cheaper alternative to our readers. Of course, we suggest you buy the color one, it’s worth the difference.

Why is there such a big difference in price between the two books?
One is twice as big as the other and is printed in full color, which increases the production costs.

Where do you ship from?
All books are shipped from Michigan.

Once I buy my book, how long will it take you to ship it?
It is usually shipped within 24 to 48 hours.

How long will it take to arrive?
For free shipping we use Media Mail by the United States Postal Service. Please allow up to 15 business days for delivery within the U.S. For faster delivery choose another shipping method.

Can I get expedited shipping?
Yes, we can ship two-day.

Will I have a tracking number?
Yes.

I am not in the United States, Canada or Europe. How much for shipping?
Please visit our affiliate site at Dominican Bookshop -The Dominican Republic in Print and contact them regarding international shipping methods.

Can I buy these books and ship them to someone else?
Sure, no problem.

Can I buy your books somewhere else?
Why would you do that?

Well, if you must absolutely refuse to buy them where they are cheaper, have great service and offer free shipping, then yes. You can buy them at practically all the large online retailers. And you can go to your brick and mortar bookshop and ask, if they don't have it, tell them to order from Ingram. Most bookstores take special orders.

I am in the Dominican Republic. Do you offer shipping to the D.R.?
Yes, but delivery is about one to two weeks slower than to other locations. I am sure you know why.

I want to buy ten gazillion books. Do you offer bulk discount?
Yes, and for ten gazillion books we will also throw out a back rub (offer void where prohibited). Contact us if you are buying more than 6 books.
