Angry Gonna eat that?!

Quote:
Is there anything that makes us more squeamish than unusual foods? When we were children, dishes others families ate were “weird.” As our tastebuds matured, we added more “gross” foods to our diets, but our culture tended to set the boundaries. Most Chinese find cheese repugnant, for example, and rare is the American who relishes the thought of devouring duck’s feet, a delicacy in China.

As the world gets smaller, regional favorites get nearer, less foreign, less “weird.” Some of these far-flung foodstuffs could even make their way to your neighborhood grocery store.

Take a tour of unusual foods. After seeing that I think I like my rice and beans even more. What do you think?

unusual foods

Nutria anyone?..... Wow... I think that it's interesting that something that is repulsive to us and would make our taste buds shut down production is considered a delicacy in some cultures-

However, what is a food in our mainstream cuisine that turns you off with a capital O?

Mine would be blood pudding/sausage/morcilla- can not and will not do it!!!

Interesting article. I didn't realise that about the Chinese and cheese, it seems strange when I adore the stuff, all varieties of it!
I voted for fufu in the poll, how bad can pounded yam be! The other stuff though.........
I don't have a problem with offal, I just don't enjoy it. It smells nice being cooked, depending on how it's cooked but it just doesn't taste nice at all, in my opinion.
I don't think I could eat tongue! I've never tasted black pudding and I must be the only one in my family who doesn't love it, it's definitely a delicacy amongst my lot!

My mom thinks that the heart is the best part of the chivo.

I absolutely can not eat tongue... I tried it once because I'll try anything, but it still had the texture of a tongue! Too gross, even for me.
