One of my favorite TV chef well here in the U.S would have to be Rachel Ray she's unique, fun and you can tell she really enjoys cooking. She kind of my inspiration.

LOL!

Hi Tia! Long time no see... or read....

Cute!! I loved watching Tako the Octopus- Beer can chicken episode was entertaining- "We are experiencing technical difficulties....." when he and the chicken were fighting(funny!!) But it is an unconventional way of learning- very useful and I'll pick up some recipes and try them out. What your fav?

I don't know if you can get any PBS programming in the DR but the tv chefs like Daisy Martinez (Puerto Rican) and my favorite Lidia Matticchio Bastianich (Italian) are the ones i love to watch (Look them up online). I would love to see a Dominican cookng show (hint hint) I would support it 100%- Are there any shows on tv down there- (I'm in the US-Miami)

There are a few cooking shows here, ranging from the pretty decent to pretty crappy. The most famous TV chef now is Eugenia Rojo, Silvia de Pou is the Julia Child of Dominican cuisine.

Unfortunately we don't have local TV. We have a sat dish and only (mostly) catch US TV. Yes, we got PBS. My husband loves the ten million sport channel and I couldn't care less. I maybe watch a show or two a week.

Anyways... back to Tako the Chef. It's the most clever animation I've ever seen. and I love the science behind the cooking. I've had it bookmarked for years now. It's a pity they only did 8 "shows". This is a cooking show I can watch any day.

For those clicking on the link. Click on the Deep Fried Live sign on the second page that will open and choose one of the shows.

TV Chefs

Does silvia De Pou have a show and is it still aired down there? I remember purchasing all Volumes of her books on this very website!! I see she is iconic in the world of Dominican Cuisine.
Since you get PBS, check out the culinary shows- probably shown on Saturday mornings (check your listings)- Lots of food and culture shows in addition to cooking shows-You'll like it

Wink Re:My favorite TV chef

I love the watch the food network, my wife and I call it our neutral channel. We used to watch it more than we do now. I especially love the food shows like $40 per day, behind the bash and Secret Life of ... My favorite personality on the food network is without a doubt Giada Di Laurentis. She is drop dead gorgeous, is beyond passionate about her job, explains her cooking exceptionally well and is always smiling.
