A good Dominican meal will not be complete without a dulcito (a sweet) right before 'el cafecito' that dots the i in our meals. A tropical country and a great variety of fruits make for Dominicans' taste for juices and shakes.

Tamarind juice (jugo de tamarindo)


Delicious with a bit of a sour touch, tamarind juice is a refreshing drink that is very popular in the Dominican Republic. As a curious note tamarind is a natural somniferous.

Time: 10 Mins
Difficulty: Easy
Serve: 4 people

Before starting to cook: No prior preparation is necessary.

Ingredients:
  • 2 cups of tamarind pulp (seeded)
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 10 cups of water
  • Ice

Preparación:
  1. Blend all the ingredients together (except ice) and strain to get rid of the pulp fiber. Add ice.
  2. Serve immediately

hey, jugo de chinola is also a famous drink. at least where i use to live..
do you happen to know how to make it?.
is it the same recipe as the jugo de tamarindo?
