Desserts - Beverages

A good Dominican meal will not be complete without a dulcito (a sweet) right before 'el cafecito' that dots the i in our meals. A tropical country and a great variety of fruits make for Dominicans' taste for juices and shakes.

Recipe Ponche de ron (Rum eggnog)

The classic drink of our Christmas dinner. The hearty and sweet drink with the delicious touch of rum. We suggest you prepare some extra and give it to friends and family. They'll appreciate it.

Time: 35 minutes
Difficult: Easy
Serve: 8 people

Before starting to cook: No prior preparation is necessary.

Ingredients:
  • 10 cups of evaporated milk
  • 5 cups of condensed sweetened milk
  • 3/4 cup of rum
  • 8 egg yolks

Preparation:
  1. Mix the milks and the egg yolks. Whisk slowly until they are well mixed.
  2. Cook in a bain-marie over low fire. Stir to avoid sticking to the bottom letting it boil for 15 minutes. Add the rum.
  3. Turn off the fire and stir constantly until it cools down to room temperature. Chill before serving.

You need to post at least a full sentence. It's a feature (not a bug ) that prevents people from posting fluff and clogging the comment section.

Ok so I posted a full sentence the first time around, I think I know what's the problem. When You go into the box at the bottom and post a quick reply it gives you the message that it should be at least five characters even though there a lot more than five.

No bain marie...

Can I still make this without a bain marie? If so, how can I do it?
