A good Dominican meal will not be complete without a dulcito (a sweet) right before 'el cafecito' that dots the i in our meals. A tropical country and a great variety of fruits make for Dominicans' taste for juices and shakes.

I don't believe there is a way to do it without a bain marie.

This recipe seems very easy and I will try for it Thanksgiving. But when do you add the rum? And does it matter what kind of rum it is?

Also, is it ok to place the drink in punch bowl after it's chilled? The reason I ask is because some people like to pour it directly into a glass but if your guest haven't arrived it doesn't make any sense to do that.

See step two. I clarified the instructions.

And yes, chilled is good. IMO, chilled is better.

Isn't a Bain Marie when you have a boiliable container inside a pot of boiling water....if so for the person that does not have one just use 2 pots, one bigger than the other one.
