I am very glad to hear it worked for you.

The caramel thing is hit or miss. The best thing is to add it very slowly. If all else fails, just get rid of the chunky parts. Or better yet, use powdered royal icing, or pasteurized eggs if available.

The reason why it doesn't rise could also be due to altitude....depending on where you live,some cakes have to be baked at a different temp. for a longer or shorter period of time. I don't know if the dominican cake fits in that category.

Freezing Cake?

Can you freeze this cake for future eating. I know that freezing your wedding cake for a year is sometimes a tradition.

Great Recipe!

This Recipe was GREAT! My husband is from the DR and we live in Alaska and it is always very nice to be able to give him some true Dominican recipes as if he was there! Thank you and I will be trying more of your recipes soon!
