Well en el campo where my mom is from, you could get pan de agua with pasta de tomate. In essence, they took your tomato sandwich to another level.

Ohh dear, I rember that...yum pica pica....to tell you the truth now they disgust me. But back then I loved it. They were fresh and spicy and so delicious. But they they smell and taste like dirty water. If you taste pica pica rice now and back then you would definitly love the one from back then.I used to be a fanatic.
But they stopped tasting so fresh, and tasty.
Me and my husband like to keep our "love life" very interresting. And one day i was his chef...instead of making love we ended up eating all theese types of comida de pobre...and we had a big tummy ache.
People call them poor people fod, but now even the weathliest people can live without it!:

I never had yaniqueque with cocoa. Now I feel like I am missing something.

Ah, the tomatoes with vinaigrette in pan de agua. A classic.

Mangú con Pica Pica was Inmate Food ("Comida de Preso"). And its funny how spaghetti was considered poor people's food before it became "middle class food" in the 1980s.
