Ok, now that we officially have a forum for all those "patio" conversations I ought to make good use of it. For those who have been living under a rock for the last year, I am now the proud mom of a 11-month wonder, and I haven't been able to shed all the pounds that I gained during the pregnancy (and in the spirit of full disclosure I wasn't at my fittest right before I got pregnant). I am still breastfeeding, and will do so for at least another 4 months, so I can't go the strict-diet way, but as of the last month or so I have been taking this very seriously and have lost a few pounds, but have a hip-full of them to go. How long did it take you gals to get rid of the baby fat? Please don't tell me "it never went away".

I don't know how I managed to close this thread and not notice. No wonder it soared like a lead balloon.

Aunt Clara, It took me a year and a half to get rid of my baby fat.. I went from 135 to a 235. I gained 100pds during the pregnancy: after I gave birth, I went down to 215.. I went to such a depression on first 2 month, that I ended eating 2 pounds of Hersey Bar a week...Yakes!! How did I got rid of it.. the hard way.. there is no cure better than exercise 2-3 times a week, (which I hate to sweat but got to do it) and cut down on meals portions. Instead of eating 3 times a day, I would eat 5 small meals... I hate counting calories. so I serve my rice, beans and meat in a saucer plate... drink plenty of water (which another thing I hate, but have to do) I cut down on fried food completly, this includes queso frito!!LOL! and some starch until I lost the weight, I then compromise..if I wanted desert, like a cheesecake, I would skip one meal... so I could indulge myself.. Eventhough you are breastfeeding, you can start exercising, take long walks with the baby, jog, anything to start your metabolism to kick up in gear... I would not recommend reducing the amount of calories you are taking while your breastfeeding, because your body need to replenish itself... I breast feed for only 4 months.. and a year and half later I went back to 135.. but lost my figure after a car accident.. but thats another story...:( Remember all you need is motavation and a little time for yourself..

Oy! It's being a year and although I have lost considerable weight I am far from my ideal weight. Motivation I have in stride, energy is what I am lacking.

I also had a baby in Feb. i still have 40lbs to loose, it's alot harder than with my first son. I just stopped breastfeeding and was expecting the weight to come off quickly. I'm trying the special K diet for 2 meals then eating small portion at dinner with my family.
