Strictly from a gastronomical point of view an inter-cultural marriage can be a thing of wonder, or a complete disaster, depending on how open the two parties are. We, for example, are pretty open and adventurous. Except for meat (and I might give that a try some day) I have learned to enjoy Danish cuisine (hubby is Danish), while my husband has tried, and learnt to love most of the Dominican dishes.
For quite a while he swore he'd never try goat or mondongo (tripes), and guess what? You guessed right, he'd tried them both. He took a bite of mondongo from his -strictly-steak-and-tatters dad who somehow, probably under the influence of a few
frias, took the jump and did. Go figure.
There are some things we hate about each other's cultures (I hate how too many Danes smoke excessively, he hates how we drive, fair is fair), but when it comes to the kitchen all is well in our kingdom of three. It'll be interesting to see how the sprout adapts to this.
So, how have your marriage adapted to different diets?
