Farina

The way my mom and i make this farina is a little different then all of the ones posted but simpler. First pour in the amount of farina you want to consume (more for a thick farina, less for a watery farina) into cold water, in a pot. Do not turn on the stove yet. Put in a stick or two of cinnamon and a piece of lemon peel, and a pinch of salt (not too much). Now turn on the stove. Keep on moving the farina untill it thickens. When it thickens Pour in some milk. Again if you want it thick don't put too much if you want it creamy pour a bit more. Stir it until it thickens to your desire. Turn off the stove and add a bit of butter or margarin. Then add sugar to your taste. Trust me on this my husband did not like farina until I made him farina my way. Now i believe this the dominican way because my mom says that her mother used to make it like that too.
