Dominican beans are the best. The consistency is just right, the flavor is delectible, I could just eat them by themselves. However, we've never put celery in our beans, is that from a certain part of the country?

Celery in beans...

That may be a quirk to that particular family. My Mom never puts celery in her beans. I omit it too when I follow this recipe.

My mom used to add pumkin, boil it with the bean and then blend it with some of the beans in the blender and this would make it heavy and give it a distinct color and flavor.

Does this recipe call for tomato sauce or tomato paste? Under the ingredientes it says tomato sauce, but under preparation it mentions tomato paste.
