Decor on a string – And some Flickr favorites
In Nadia’s room there is a wall that is mostly occupied by two doors, between the doors there is a sliver of wall, one that pretty much defies any attempt at decoration. It’s pretty hard to hang anything in such narrow space without it feeling overwhelming.
I handed over some felt, safety scissors and buttons to Nadia and told her to make some flowers. When she finished we glued it to some thin rickrack and hung on that wall. I love the modern graphic look of her “flowers”, and especially the choice of colors.
Garlands are a great way to decorate, they feel festive, and you can chose from any style depending on the materials of your choice, from modern to shabby chic. And they can cost little to nothing to make, so it can be “decor on a string on a shoestring” (somebody had to say it).
These are some of my favorite garlands from Flickr.
Yarn flowers, felt bird and a brass bell.
Crocheted squares with embroidered name
Sewed and stuffed hand-printed houses.
The sight of all these lovely, festive garlands is a great way to end the week. You have a great weekend, have fun and enjoy yourself and your family. See you on Monday.
