Crocheted cord for jewelry

I have several jars full of beads. These are all beads coming from estate sales, and sold by the lot. Few of them are remarkable, or valuable at all, but they come in handy some times.

Sometimes I make simple jewelry with them, but it’s mostly Nadia who uses them. These are a few of the things I’ve made with these beads recently. Since I didn’t have cords that worked well with them, I figured I could crochet some using simple chain stitches and yarns that coordinated with the beads.

Now I am  intrigued by the combination of crochet and beads, and will probably attempt to make something bigger, and bolder. If I find the time.

Have you ever made crocheted jewelry? Any examples I can steal be inspired by? :)

Very pretty :) I love crochet jewellery, unfortunately I haven't learnt to crochet (yet), but I have seen loads of lovely stuff on Etsy.com, just search for 'crochet jewelry' and I'm sure you'll find lots of inspiration ;)

I have made several in the past (nothing special) but did not show in a post. Got them out a while ago to add some changes. Will post about them too!

I really like this one from Craftster! http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=149526.0 I have made it in two colors. Excellent for using up your bead stash, very easy and looks good, in fact I'm wearing one at work today! :) You have to pre-string the beads before you can start crocheting. I strung those really small kind of beads on a regular sewing thread (same colored as my main cotton yarn) so I could also use those up (because the small beads didn't fit on the regular cotton yarn).

Oh, wow, why didn't I think of that before? Thanks Kady for the link. I loved it and I am definitely going to give it a try.

I just read about Erin Field, an architect who also makes amazing crocheted jewellery. You can see some of her work here: http://www.trophyroom.org/2010.htm
