Handmade Paper Hearts

Handmade Paper Hearts: It's something so simple that it requires very little in the way of materials, and very little effort.

Much as I love my power tools, sometimes I have to take a break from sanding and paint fumes and do something simple, something that can be done while curled up on the sofa watching the boob tube and wondering if Hugh Laurie wears briefs or boxers.

Excuse me, did I say that out loud?

You saw these little hearts in Nadia’s bedroom before. It’s something so simple that it requires very little in the way of materials, and very little effort.

I made these with scrapbooking paper from left over Nadia’s trash bin. It’s a piece of thin cork tile (cardboard would work too), covered with paper on both sides, and finished with a piece of silk cord.

I made a hole with a leather puncher and passed a thin piece of rickrack to tie it. It takes about 15 minutes to make all these, and they added a much-requested touch of pink to Nadia’s bedroom, which is as much pink as I can take at once.

For more heart goodness, I also made a heart mobile to hang over her desk. It hangs from the metal ring of an old, discarded lamp shade.
